Michael Bloom's career in the music business includes ten years at record labels such as GRP (he was the label's first Director of Publicity, and helped launch the careers of Diana Krall and Arturo Sandoval, among others), Gramavision, and Windham Hill/High Street.
Prior to his record label work Bloom was a radio newscaster and jazz DJ in Honolulu, San Francisco, and New York. During that time he also worked as a music journalist, contributing cover stories to Down Beat, Cadence, Japan's Swing Journal and Sweet Basil magazines, as well as writing liner notes for numerous albums.
Bloom's first client was Herbie Hancock. Since then he has worked with many notable artists including Wayne Shorter, Mike Stern, Jim Hall, John Scofield, Yellowjackets, Steve Smith, Jackie Ryan, Charlie Watts, Rockabilly/Country legend Wanda Jackson, ukulele innovator Jake Shimabukuro, Mike Keneally, Mickey Hart & Zakir Hussain's Global Drum Project, Les Nubiens, Eliades Ochoa (Buena Vista Social Club), and avant-classical cellist Joan Jeanrenaud.
